Liu Zimo, a 9-year-old girl from Handan, Hebei Province, experienced a special tour in her summer holiday. Walking on foot or hitchhiking, she and her father toured 7 provinces and cities in China.
The young girl is especially curious about China's remote mountain areas. After careful consideration, her parents decided to give her an opportunity to learn travel skills in a unique way. They let her take the lead for the entirety of the journey: asking directions, buying meals, securing rides and accommodation.
The girl independently completed the 4,000-kilometer-long journey, with her father just playing the role of her bodyguard.
“Would you like a ride ?" Would you like a lift?" Tom's car ran out of gas, and he had to hitch a ride with a truck driver.(汤姆汽车的汽油用光了,他只有在路旁求搭便车,获得一位货车司机送了一程。) He hitchhiked his way all over Taiwan.(他搭便车遍游台湾。)让人搭便车,是to give somebody a ride / lift,例如:Can you give me a ride to Kaohsiung, please?(可以让我搭便车去高雄吗?)Women should not accept rides from strangers. 留意to give somebody a ride 跟 to take somebody for a ride 不同。To take somebody for a ride. He found himself taken for a ride when the woman handed him over to the police.
