绕口令又称急口令、吃口令、拗口令等。是一种中国传统的语言游戏，由于它是将若干双声、叠词词汇或发音相同、相近的语、词有意集中在一起，组成简单、有趣的语韵，要求快速念出，所以读起来使人感到节奏感强，妙趣横生。

绕口令是中国民间语言游戏，将声母、韵母或声调极易混同的字，组成反复、重叠、绕口、拗口的句子，要求一口气急速念出。关于绕口令的产生，可以追寻到5000多年前的黄帝时代。古籍中侥幸保存下来的《弹歌》“晰竹，续竹，飞土”，相传为黄帝时所作。

据考证，这是比较接近于原始形态的歌谣，其中，已经有了绕口令的基本成分——双声叠韵词。由此推想，很可能在文字出现以前，绕口令就已经萌动于中国劳动人民的口头语言之中了。
