不知道楼主的走了，是真的用走的方式离开了，还是只是说离开了，开车离开，汉语中也可以说是走了，所以我给出两个答案He walked along west street. （指明了是步行方式走了）He went along west street. (没有指明走的方式，就是往沿着西街往那边去了)走了应该是过去式，我的是正确的，放心吧。
