通用的英文缩写是PLA， People‘s Liberation Army。不过这个不是正式英文，因为解放军自己没规定。一般老外都是直接说Chinese army，不会说PLA，因为PLA还有其他意思，比如巴勒斯坦解放军，他们的简称也是PLA。
我军官方没有对军兵种的英文缩写进行定义。如：大家都知道PLA是中国人民解放军，但是官方并不会使用PLA这个英文缩写。
