面对可以翻译为：face 或者 confront.

confront vt.

前者有主观正视地面对，后者重在偶然遇到或碰到

这两个词可以互换，但还是有区别的。venomoussnake毒蛇 是泛指所有的毒蛇。viper蝰蛇，是毒蛇 但所指范围有限。cobra 眼镜蛇，也是毒蛇 rattlesnake 响尾蛇，也是毒蛇所以，venomoussnakes包括 viper,cobra,rattlesnake，等等.但viper或cobra不包括其他种类的毒蛇。就像汽车包括轿车，公交车，卡车，等等。但卡车并不包括其他种类的汽车。

面对可以有几个翻译发confront - 一般是指面对害怕或是面对敌人deal with - 一般用于面对压力，面对某情况face - 虽然这个单词也是‘脸’的意思，但是跟上面的deal with 可以互换来用face to face - 指的是面对面
