对外贸易，亦称“外国贸易”或“进出口贸易”，简称“外贸”，是指一个国家（地区）与另一个国家（地区）之间的商品、劳务和技术的交换活动。

这种贸易由进口和出口两个部分组成。对运进商品或劳务的国家（地区）来说，就是进口；对运出商品或劳务的国家（地区）来说，就是出口。这在奴隶社会和封建社会就开始产生和发展，到资本主义社会，发展更加迅速。其性质和作用由不同的社会制度所决定。

贸易依存度

贸易依存度亦称“外贸依存率”“外贸系数”。一国对贸易的依赖程度，一般用对外贸易额进出口总值在国民生产总值或国内生产总值中所占比重来表示。即贸易依存度=对外贸易总额/国民生产总值。比重的变化意味着对外贸易在国民经济中所处地位的变化。

贸易依存度还可以用贸易总额在国民收入中所占比重来表示。贸易依存度=贸易总额/国民收入总额。外贸依存度分为出口依存度和进口依存度。出口依存度=出口总额/国民生产总值；进口依存度=进口总额/国民生产总值。
