这个是on 和in 的用法问题.翻译起来都是在雪地上,但是在英文中有个细微的差别,on一般是在表面之上的,接触了表面,但是没有深入里面.比如说the book is on the table.由于这里是泛指所有的雪地,所以用on snow； 而in 一般是在……之上但是有所深入了,甚至还有在……里的意思.很明显,这里的SOS肯定已经踩入到雪里才能留下痕迹.而且是特征她所在的这片雪地,用in the snow.
